Samaritan's Purse

A massive clean-up effort is underway in the aftermath of the fires

SYDNEY, NSW, Nov. 28, 2019 – Samaritan's Purse volunteers are helping families restore their lives after the latest round of bushfires caused widespread devastation around the Northern Rivers and Mid North Coast regions.

"If you entered the main town, you would not have thought the fire came through. But outside of the town it's been tremendous. It's very sad. It's been sad to hear the stories of many people who have lost everything. But there's been a real sense of community and helping one another." – Carol and Lee (local volunteers)

Samaritan's Purse volunteers are now undertaking a massive clean-up of properties around the Mid North Coast region; clearing land, removing fallen trees, sifting through ash for belongings and cleaning structures. All assistance is offered free of charge. Samaritan's Purse is still accepting volunteers who live around the Mid North Coast Region that can help with cleaning and clearing property up until 20 December. As well as helping clear damaged property, Samaritan's Purse also provides families with a Fire Recovery Kit. The Kits provide essential tools to help a family clear their property and sift through the rubble to find valuable items. The Fire Recovery Kit costs $300 and includes protective equipment and tools. To donate towards a Kit to be given to a family in need, visit samaritanspurse.org.au.
