Events South Australia has confirmed that the Santos Tour Down Under will not go ahead in January 2021 due to the complexities and risks involved with international teams travelling into the state.
A smaller, domestic cycling festival will be held in the streets of Adelaide and regional South Australia.
"We appreciate the tremendous amount of work undertaken by the Santos Tour Down Under team in trying to plan a safe 2021 event and though we are disappointed, we fully support their decision not to hold the event in January" said Deputy Mayor Nathan Daniell.
"Council staff have worked with the Santos Tour Down Under team on aspects of their scenario planning and can attest the process has been incredibly thorough. Although an international event is off the table, we look forward working with them on a new, reimagined domestic event."
