SCC Fraud and Cybercrime investigation into misappropriation of funds concludes, NSW

The investigation into allegations of finance being derived by an NRL club through false or inflated invoices to suppliers paid by their leagues club has concluded, NSW Police say.

Strike Force Rhodium was established in May 2016 by the Fraud and Cybercrime Squad’s Corporate Corruption Unit to investigate allegations of fraud committed against Parramatta Leagues Club members.

Throughout the investigative process, strike force detectives have executed multiple search warrants and, with the assistance of forensic accountants, reviewed more than 250,000 emails and 600 pieces of evidence.

In addition, investigators conducted more than 50 interviews and taken about 100 detailed statements.

The investigation, which was assisted by the NRL Integrity Unit, was protracted and comprehensive, and focused on matters where criminality had been identified.

Two men, aged 41 and 42, were charged during the investigation and remain before the courts.

The investigation has now been finalised.
