Search and rescue in Canungra, QLD

A coordinated search is under way for two bush walkers reported missing in Lamington National Park overnight, Queensland Police say.

Police received information around 5.30pm yesterday that three bush walkers had departed O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat, planning to walk the West Cunungra Creek Circuit.

A combined search an rescue operation from North Tamborine police station commenced last night and a 62-year-old man was located uninjured and winched to safety by a rescue helicopter.

It is believed another two walkers, a man and woman, left the location earlier and attempted to walk out of the national park themselves.

A search for the missing walkers recommenced this morning.
