Search and rescue in Mt Surprise, QLD

Police are coordinating a search for a 36-year-old man, a 42-year-old man and a three-year-old girl missing at a private property 40 kilometres north of Mt Surprise, Queensland Police say.

Around 10.30am today, police received information that two men and a young girl were missing after leaving an address in Kuranda to explore a property in Mt Surprise.

The missing people last spoke with family via mobile on Saturday January 7 at 1pm and have not been heard from since.

The last known location is believed to be either McDonald or Lancewood Creek where they were waiting for the water to subside before crossing and exiting the property at Elizabeth Creek.

Police hold concerns for their safety due to the flooded waterways and access to food and drinking water.

A search involving the Rescue Helicopter 510 is currently being organised in an effort to locate the two missing men and girl.
