Search for Brave Tradie

Monash Crime Investigation Unit detectives are searching for a quick-thinking tradie who tried to assist at a fatal house fire in Hughesdale yesterday, Victoria Police say.

The fire started at the North Road property in the kitchen area about 4pm.

Police have been told the quick-thinking tradie turned off the main gas supply to the property before ripping off the front security door in an attempt to enter the home.

Unfortunately he was overcome by smoke and could not enter the residence.

Police believe the tradie was driving a white single cab utility possibly a Ford or Mazda with an aluminium tray.

Investigators urge this man to come forward so he can assist with the investigation.

A 69-year-old woman who was home alone at the time sadly died.

The fire is not been treated as suspicious.
