Search for car after officer struck in Wyoming

A police officer has been taken to hospital in a stable condition after being struck by a car with stolen number plates on the Central Coast, NSW Police say.

About 12.30pm today, an officer from Traffic and Highway Patrol Command became involved in a pursuit with a vehicle in Wyoming.

The vehicle entered Japonica Drive, where the officer got out of his vehicle and was struck by the car, which then drove from the scene.

The male senior constable suffered a head laceration and a knee injury. He has been taken to Gosford Hospital in a stable condition.

The offending vehicle has been described as a grey coloured 1990s model Mitsubishi Magna. It is believed to have stolen number plates YOW279 (NSW).

Anyone who sights the vehicle is urged to contact police immediately.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
