Search for child, woman arrested in Moama

A search will continue for a child in the Murray River in the state’s south, NSW Police say.

About 7pm today, police were called to the Perricoota Road, Moama, after a nine-year-old boy was located with serious dog bite injuries.

He was taken to Echuca Hospital before being transported to a hospital in Melbourne for treatment.


Police also received information that another child, a five-year-old boy, is missing in the Murray River at Moama.

A search operation was launched involving police from Deniliquin Local Area Command, SES, and Maritime Rescue, and the Victorian police airwing.

This search was suspended about 11pm, but is expected to resume about 8am, and will also involve Victoria Police divers.

About 10pm, a 27-year-old woman, who is related to the children, presented herself to police at Echuca in Victoria.

She has been arrested and is assisting with inquiries.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
