Search for escaped prisoner in Townsville, QLD

Police are seeking public assistance to help locate a male prisoner who has escaped from a correctional facility in Townsville early this morning, Queensland Police say.

Geoffrey John Campbell, 39, who is a prisoner at the Townsville Correctional Centre Farm, was reported missing from the centre around 7:20am following a morning headcount.

Geoffrey (pictured) is described as having a fair complexion, about 175cm tall with light brown hair, hazel eyes and has tattoos on his right shoulder, chest, arms and right ankle.

Extensive patrols have been conducted on the prison grounds and the local area but he has not been located.

Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is urged not to approach him but to call police immediately.
