Search for escaped prisoners in Rockhampton, QLD

Police are seeking public assistance to help locate two male prisoners who escaped lawful custody in Rockhampton this afternoon, Queensland Police say.

The pair, who are prisoners at the Capricornia Correctional Centre, were undertaking a community work order at the Rockhampton Showgrounds when Corrective Services officers reported them missing just before 1pm.

The first prisoner is 21-year-old Nelson Jack Kepa who is described as having a dark complexion, about 172cm tall with black hair, brown eyes and tattoos on his fingers.

The second prisoner is 25-year-old Levi James Brown who is described as having a light complexion, about 175cm tall with brown eyes, black hair and the word "Brown" tattooed on his neck.

Police have conducted extensive patrols in the Wandal area but were unable to locate them.

Anyone with information regarding their whereabouts are urged not to approach them but to call police immediately.
