Search for man following Sunbury stabbing

Hume Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public information to help locate a man following a stabbing in Sunbury earlier this month, Victoria Police say.

Emergency services were called to a store on Horne Street about 10.20am on 6 September after a security guard was slashed in the face with a knife.

The guard had attempted to stop a shoplifter leaving the store.

The 61-year-old Ascot Vale man was then taken to hospital for treatment.

Police would like to speak to Anton Lewryk in relation to the incident and have released images and CCTV in the hope someone can provide information on his current whereabouts.

The 35-year-old man , who is of no fixed place of address, is known to frequent the and a number places in the metropolitan area including the Melbourne CBD, St Kilda, Beaumaris, St Albans, Hawthorn, Caulfield and Sunbury.

Police are asking members of the public not to approach Lewryk and to call triple zero (000) if sighted.

Anyone with information or who witnessed the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
