The search for missing Mannahill woman, Tanja Ebert, is expanded today as police begin a wide-scale examination of the couple's vast sheep station in the north east pastoral region of South Australia, according to SA Police.
STAR Group search coordinators and the Police helicopter, PolAir, arrived at the property yesterday afternoon to conducta preliminary aerial survey of the station and its rugged terrain. Police also searched the homestead, outbuildings and vehicles on the property.
Already at the station are officers from Major Crime, the police Physical Evidence Section, detectives from Port Pirie and local officers.
More resources, including SES volunteers and Mounted Police, are arriving this morning to assist in the searchfor the 23-year-old mother-of-two who has not been seen since 8 August and is feared murdered.
The renewed search comes after an independent team of police yesterday worked towards completing an Commissioner's Inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the self-inflicted shooting death of Ms Ebert's husband, Michael Burdon, at the property while police were present on Wednesday afternoon. A report into Mr Burdon’s death will also be prepared for the State Coroner.
Despite the massive scale of the 410sqkm property, police are hopeful that hard work and a bit of luck will help them locate Ms Ebert. Although no information about her whereabouts were obtained from her husband, police have identified several areas of interest with a careful, detailed search being planned.
