Search for Parents of Non-verbal Boy Found in Newcastle

Police are appealing for assistance to locate the parents or carers of a boy found in Newcastle overnight.

About 12am today (Tuesday 17 February 2026), officers attached to Newcastle City Police District were called to a Station Street, Waratah, following reports a boy had been located.

Officers attended and were told the boy had been found in a drain way between Station and Platt Street.

Police are speaking to residents and members of the public in the area; however, haven't located his parents or carers.

The boy is described as being aged about 3-4 years old, with an olive complexion, of small build with brown hair, brown eyes and non-verbal.

He was found wearing a blue singlet top with Sonic on the front, pink coloured track pants and no shoes.
