Search for youth after stolen car crashes at Underdale, SA

Sturt Police are searching the Underdale and Brooklyn Park area, after a youth crashed a stolen car and ran from the scene this morning, according to SA Police.

Just after 4am, police were called to a collision next to a service station at the intersection of Henley Beach and Holbrooks, after a Toyota Echo reportedly doing burn-outs hit a fence.

On arrival, the driver had fled the scene, with witnesses reporting a teenage boy wearing a black top with yellow stripes seen running south across Henley Beach Road.

Police patrols set up cordons in the area and called in a police dog patrol who searched the area, but at this stage the suspect hasn't been located.

Checks on the crashed Toyota Echo revealed it had been stolen from a Craig Street Richmond address just before 4am this morning, about 20 minutes prior to the collision.

The stolen car had to be towed from the scene.

Anyone with information on the incident or the suspect is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
