A multi-agency search is underway after the boat of a missing fisherman was found off Sydney's south early this morning..
Just after 7pm yesterday (Tuesday 12 August 2025), officers attached to Sutherland Shire Police Area Command were called to a boat ramp near Port Hacking Road, Dolans Bay, due to concerns a man had not returned after going fishing earlier in the day.
Police were told the 35-year-old man left Dolans Bay, about 9am in his 6m boat.
Extra resources from Marine Area Command, Marine Rescue NSW and Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) were called and started searching.
About 12.15am today (Wednesday 13 August 2025), the AMSA Challenger jet located the boat 15 nautical miles off Port Kembla with Botany Water Police deployed to recover it; however, there was no sign of the fisherman.
Search resumed today about 8am, involving Water Police, Marine Rescue NSW and Surf Life Saving with JRCC managing several aircraft.
