Search underway for missing man - Mullaway Beach

A search is underway for a man believed to be missing in water off Coffs Harbour.

Police have been told Depy Nakabasa Chihiri, aged 42, left his home in the Sandy Beach area, north of Coffs Harbour, on Tuesday (21 September 2021) to go fishing.

He has not been seen or heard from since and officers from Coffs/ Clarence Police District were notified yesterday (Friday 24 September 2021).

As part of inquiries, police located Depy's vehicle in the carpark of Mullaway Beach.

Officers from Coffs/ Clarence Police District are conducting a land and water search of the area with assistance from Marine Rescue, Surf Life Saving NSW and the Westpac helicopter.

Depy is described as being of African appearance, with a dark complexion, of medium build and with short dark hair.

Police inquiries are continuing.
