Search Underway for Missing Swimmer Off Port Macquarie

Emergency services are searching for a missing swimmer last seen at a Port Macquarie beach this afternoon.

About 3.40pm (Wednesday 27 August 2025), emergency services were called to Shelly Beach, Pacific Drive, Port Macquarie, following reports a swimmer had failed to resurface.

Officers attached to Mid North Coast Police District arrived and were told a 20-year-old man had entered the water a short time earlier and had not resurfaced.

Police with assistance from Marine Area Command, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter, NSW Marine Rescue and Surf Life Saving NSW, commenced a multi-agency search to locate the man; however, he has not been located.

He is described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance and was last seen wearing black swim shorts.

The search to locate the missing swimmer will continue tomorrow morning (Thursday 28 August 2025).
