Search underway – missing bushwalker Cape Tribulation

Police in Far North Queensland are coordinating a search of Mount Sorrow in Cape Tribulation for a 25-year-old American woman who failed to return from a bushwalk yesterday, April 26, Queensland Police say.

The woman, an experienced hiker who has supplies of food and water with her, left around 8am yesterday to hike the Mount Sorrow Ridge.

 She failed to return as scheduled around 2pm and police were notified last evening. A search and rescue operation was commenced yesterday but suspended overnight and re-commenced early this morning.

A land and air search involving police, State Emergency Service and rescue helicopter will be involved in today’s search.

The woman, in Australia on a walking holiday- is described as Caucasian, approximately 167cms tall with blonde hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a blue t shirt, black ¾ length leggings, turquoise blue & black running shoes and she was carrying a silver backpack.

Anyone who may have seen the woman is asked to contact police.
