Search underway to locate missing woman - Carabost near Tumbarumba

A multi-agency search is currently underway to locate a woman missing from the state's south west.

Sjann Tonkin, aged 56, was last seen walking into the Murraguldrie State Forest in Carabost, about 30km north west of Tumbarumba, on Sunday 18 October 2020.

Officers from Murray River Police District were notified yesterday (Monday 19 October 2020), when the woman didn't return home. A preliminary search of the woman's property and surrounding bushland was undertaken yesterday with the assistance of the NSW State Emergency Service (SES).

The search will resume this morning.

Although she is an experienced bushwalker, police and her family hold serious concerns for her welfare as she suffers from a medical condition.

Sjann is described as being of Caucasian appearance, of medium build with short grey hair. She was last seen wearing a black quilted jacket, black tights and black shoes.

Anyone with information about her whereabouts is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
