Search for Coburg booze bandit

Police are appealing for information following a number of alcohol thefts in Coburg last month, Victoria Police say.

Investigators have been told a man walked into a liquor store on Sydney Road, Coburg about 7.45pm on 12 February and took three bottles of alcohol without paying.

The man was confronted by staff members and became aggressive before fleeing.

About 8.55pm on the same day, the same man is believed to have attended another bottle shop on Louisa Street.

He again stole a number of bottles and became aggressive towards staff.

No one was injured during the incidents.

Police have released images of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

He is described as about 50-60 years of age with a medium build, brown hair with a receding hair line and handlebar moustache.

The man has tattoos on his right sleeve, the right side of his chest and on his left arm.

He was wearing white Everlast runners, white pants, a white singlet and brown bowler hat.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
