Second man charged after Ascot Vale armed robbery

Moonee Valley Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a second man in relation to an alleged armed robbery in Ascot Vale on 15 August.

It is alleged two males entered the Union Road store brandishing machetes before threatening two staff members and a security guard.

It is alleged the pair fled on foot with cash and prescription medication.

Detectives charged a 19-year-old Flemington man with armed robbery and recklessly cause injury on 16 August.

A second man, an 18-year-old from North Melbourne, has been charged tonight with armed robbery, false imprisonment and theft.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court tomorrow.
