A second man has been charged with murder following an investigation by Homicide Squad detectives into the murder of another man on the state's South Coast earlier this year.
About 8pm on Sunday 25 July 2021, emergency services were called to a caravan park on Ethel Street at Sanctuary Point, following reports of a stabbing.
Upon arrival, officers entered a cabin and located a man with a stab wound to his chest.
Officers attempted CPR on the man; however, he could not be revived and died at the scene.
He was formally identified as 49-year-old Sanctuary Point resident, David McArthur.
Initial inquiries were conducted by officers from South Coast Police District before detectives from the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad took carriage of the investigation under Strike Force Frawley.
On Wednesday (20 October 2021), detectives attended a correctional facility at Silverwater and charged a 39-year-old man with murder. He remains before the courts.
Following further inquiries, a search warrant was executed at a home in Nowra about 7.30am today (Friday 22 October 2021).
During a subsequent search, detectives seized a vehicle and clothing which will undergo further forensic examination.
A 41-year-old man was arrested at the property and taken to Nowra Police Station where he was charged with murder.
Homicide Squad, Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Walpole, thanked members of the public for their support and information provided to police following an appeal for information.
"Detectives have worked tirelessly to put those responsible for David's murder before a court, however the resulting arrests this week would not have been possible without the Sanctuary Point community's ongoing assistance," Det Ch Insp Walpole said.
"David died because of an unnecessary act of violence and I'm hopeful his extended family and his parents, Susan and Stuart, feel as though some justice has taken place this week."
Investigations under Strike Force Frawley continue.
