Second person charged after investigation into aggravated break and enters at Tamworth

A man has been charged as investigations continue into aggravated break and enters alleged to have occurred in the state's north last year.

In 2018, officers attached to Oxley Police District established Operation Southbreak to investigate break and enter offences across the Tamworth region.

About 9pm on Monday 14 September 2020, police responded to reports a white Ford Mondeo was stolen during a break and enter at a home on Peak Drive, Hillvue.

Following inquiries, police located the vehicle burnt out in the Tamworth area, shortly after 4am.

About 1.50am on Monday 14 December 2020, police received reports a white Jaguar station wagon had been stolen during a break and enter at a home on Golf Street, East Tamworth.

Following inquiries, police arrested an 18-year-old man at a home on Sussex Street, Tamworth about 5.20am on Wednesday 13 January 2021.

He remains before the courts.

Following further inquiries, police arrested a second man, aged 18, on Sussex Street, West Tamworth, about 8.40pm yesterday (Sunday 21 March 2021).

He was taken to Tamworth Police Station and charged with aggravated break and enter (x2 counts), steal in company, take and drive conveyance without consent of owner (x2 counts) and drive at a speed dangerous (x2 counts).

The man appeared before Tamworth Local Court today (Monday 22 March 2021), where he was bail refused to reappear before the same court on Wednesday 26 May 2021.
