Second person charged over kangaroo deaths - South Coast

A second man has been charged over kangaroo deaths on the state's South Coast last month.

About 10.15am on Sunday 29 September 2019, police were called to Dress Circle and Headland Drive, Tura Beach, 35km north of Eden, after reports of multiple dead kangaroos on the road.

It's believed an estimated 20 kangaroos were hit, including 11 killed between 10.30pm and 11.30pm on Saturday 28 September 2019.

Detectives attached to South Coast Police District commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

Following extensive inquiries, a 19-year-old Numbugga man was charged on Tuesday 1 October 2019 and remains before the courts.

About 1.30pm today (Thursday 10 October 2019), a 33-year-old Tura Beach man attended Queanbeyan Police Station where he was arrested and charged with torture, beat and cause death of animal.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Bega Local Court on Tuesday 26 November 2019.
