Second teen arrested following public order incident in Gymea

A second teen has been arrested following an alleged public order incident in Gymea earlier this month, NSW Police say.

Shortly before 8pm on Friday 6 May 2016, officers attached to Sutherland Local Area Command were called to a property on View Street, Gymea, after complaints about a party.

Police arrived to find about 150 people in a vacant house at the location.

While trying to identify the organisers, it is alleged a number of glass bottles and other projectiles were thrown at police from the backyard of the property.

Additional police resources – including the Public Order and Riot Squad, Dog Unit and PolAir – attended the home, after which the crowd began to peacefully disperse.

Local police, with assistance from the Police Transport Command, also conducted patrols of Gymea Railway Station to ensure groups were travelling home safely.

While on the platform, it is alleged a 17-year-old male – who had left the View Street party – assaulted a 19-year-old man.

The 17 year-old male was arrested and charged. He remains before the Court.

Further inquiries led to a 16 year-old male attending Sutherland Police Station where he was arrested and charged with break/enter house and destroy property, malicious damage to property, and enter inclosed lands.

The 16 year-old was granted conditional bail and is due to appear before a Childrens Court on Tuesday 28 June 2016.

Police are still seeking witnesses and conducting inquiries to identify people involved in this incident.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stopers.
