Second Teen Charged After Brighton Car Theft

A second teenager has been charged by Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit detectives after a car was allegedly stolen, then located by the owner, in Brighton over the weekend.

It is alleged two teenagers stole a black Land Rover Defender from a property on Male Street at 3am on Sunday morning.

The owner of the Land Rover, a 43-year-old Brighton man, located the car and advised police that it was located on Bay Street just after 8am.

Upon retrieving the car later that day the owner chased a teen and alerted police via Triple Zero (000).

Police arrested a 15-year-old Oakleigh East boy at the scene and located a number of alleged stolen items in his possession.

The boy was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, theft from a motor vehicle and drive without a licence.

A second teenager, a 16-year-old boy self-presented to a police station on 4 March and was interviewed by detectives.

The boy was charged with theft of motor vehicle and theft from motor vehicle.

Both boys were bailed to appear at a children's court at a later date.
