The Albanese Government is supporting Kernot and the Bass Coast Shire thanks to a $1.7 million investment in the Stewart Road (Kernot) Bridge Restoration project.
The funding is part of the Safer Local Roads and Infrastructure Program (SLRIP).
The $2.21 million upgrade will be funded in partnership with Bass Coast Shire Council.
It will address structural and safety issues to future-proof this important crossing.
The SLRIP was created by the Albanese Labor Government to ease the administrative burden on local councils as well as state and territory governments.
With at least $200 million available each year, the program is part of the Australian Government's commitment to strengthen investment and support the delivery of safer and more productive roads across Australia.
Further projects in Victoria are expected to be announced soon.
