Rockhampton Regional Council is encouraging seniors to embrace a rich program of activities throughout October for Queensland Seniors Month.

Deputy Mayor and Communities, Culture and Heritage Councillor Drew Wickerson said Seniors Month was about giving local seniors the opportunity to rediscover passions, try something new or simply find a new or old connection in our community.

"Our seniors are the heartbeat of the Region, so whether it's learning a new skill, sharing a laugh over morning tea or lunch, or singing along to some old favourites at the Pilbeam, we want them to spend time enjoying themselves and connecting with others," Cr Wickerson said.

"Many seniors are often volunteering their time, caring for loved ones, young and old, so we also want to recognise their significant and ongoing contribution to our community.

"Throughout the month, there's fun and friendship on offer, but also facts about finances and tech, some of the things that we all have trouble keeping on top of these days.

"Please consider the full program of events - from the Mayor's Treat Morning Melodies at the Pilbeam Theatre, Walk and Talk at the Rockhampton Museum of Art, Octoberfest Celebrations at Bauhinia House or craft or trivia at one of the libraries, there is something for everyone."

Seniors Month 2025 encourages the community to shine a light on seniors and show your love for older Queenslanders.

"I encourage the community to come together to celebrate and support our seniors and strengthen our connections with them, whether they are friends, family or the neighbour next door," Cr Wickerson said.
