Serious crash at Seaford

Two males have been taken to hospital after their car struck a tree in Seaford last night, Victoria Police say.

It is believed the pair was travelling along Eel Race Road when the car lost control and hit the tree shortly after 10pm.

Both were trapped for some time before being freed by emergency workers.

The driver has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries, while his passenger is being taken to hospital by road ambulance with life-threatening injuries.

The exact cause of the crash is yet to be established and police will investigate whether speed was a contributing factor.

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are en route.

Part of Eel Race Road has been closed.
