Serious Crash – East Tamar Highway in Invermay, TAS

Just after 4am this morning, emergency services responded to a single vehicle crash on the East Tamar Highway near the Mayne Street overpass, south of the Mowbray connector, Tasmania Police say.

From initial investigations, it appears a silver Holden TS was travelling south on the highway and has veered off the road causing it to roll onto its roof.

Significant damage was done to the vehicle and fencing along the side of the road.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene before a passing truck driver came across the crash.

Police hold grave concerns for the driver and are seeking any information from members of the public who may have witnessed the accident or can assist police in locating the driver whose injuries are unknown.

South-bound traffic on the highway was diverted around the scene for about 4 hours until the road was cleared.

Anyone with any information regarding the crash is asked to contact Crime Stoppers.
