Serious crash near Orange, NSW

Police are investigating after a man was injured in a serious crash in the states central west today, NSW Police say.

About 12:40pm (Wednesday 22 February 20176), emergency services were called to the Mitchell Highway, Larras Lee, about 15km north of Molong, following reports of a crash.

Initial inquiries suggest a heavy vehicle travelling southbound, a Ford Ranger utility, a Toyota Hiace, and a Mitsubishi Lancer had collided at a road works site.

Officers from Canobolas Local Area Command attended and a crime scene was established.

The male driver of the Ford Ranger was seriously injured after being trapped. He was treated by NSW Ambulance Paramedics before being taken to Orange Base Hospital in a critical condition.

The truck driver, a 57-year-old man, was uninjured and taken to Orange Base Hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests.

The occupants of the other vehicles were also uninjured.

Their ages are not yet known.

The Crash Investigation Unit is at the scene and investigations surrounding the crash are continuing.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
