The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating following a serious traffic crash involving three vehicles on the Bruce Highway at Mount Larcom this morning, Queensland Police say.
Initial investigations indicate at around 7am a car travelling northbound on the Bruce Highway collided with a vehicle travelling southbound before being hit by a third vehicle, which was also travelling southbound.
Emergency services attended and a number of people were subsequently transported to hospital.
A 26-year-old Macgregor man, a 31-year-old Macgregor man and another 31-year-old man have all been transported to Rockhampton Base Hospital in a critical condition.
Two 30-year-old women have been transported to Rockhampton Base Hospital, one in a serious condition and the other in a stable condition.
All five are believed to have been travelling in the northbound vehicle.
A 47-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy, both from Mount Pleasant have been transported to Gladstone Base Hospital in a stable condition.
Both are believed to have been travelling in the third vehicle, which was travelling southbound.
The Bruce Highway, which was closed for several hours has since reopened.
Investigations into the cause of the crash are continuing.
