Serious traffic crash at Springwood, QLD

A nine-year-old boy is in hospital with critical injuries after being struck by an alleged drink driver at Springwood last night (December 25), Queensland Police say.

Police will alleged around 7.20pm a vehicle was travelling along Jardine Street when it failed to negotiate a turn into Rholanda Crescent, colliding with a parked vehicle before then striking the boy who was walking nearby.

The car then continue driving through a hedge, colliding with a large water tank before crashing into a house situated in Rholanda Cresent. The house sustained substantial damage to its right hand side.

The boy, from Redbank Plains, was transported to the Lady Cilento Hospital in a critical condition.

The driver, a 24-year-old Springwood man has been spoken to by police and investigations by the Forensic Crash Unit are continuing.
