Serious traffic crash in Logan Central, QLD

Police are investigating a serious traffic crash in Logan Central yesterday afternoon., Queensland Police say

Initial inquires indicate at about 12.45pm a marked police vehicle was stopped at traffic lights headed north on Kingston Road at the intersection with Mayes Avenue.

A Toyota Camry was also stopped at the red light in front of the police car. Registration checks revealed the vehicle was allegedly unregistered and officers activated emergency lights and sirens.

The vehicle has immediately accelerated through the intersection against the red light.

Police proceeded through the intersection however due to the speed of the other vehicle have deaccelerated with the intention of stopping.

At the traffic lights at a shopping centre entrance prior to Wembley Road, the Camry has collided with a four wheel drive (4WD). The 4WD had a green light and was turning right from the shopping centre to head south on Kingston Road.

The driver of the 4WD, a man in his 40’s, was not injured.

The driver of the Camry, a 30-year-old Logan man received serious injuries and was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

The only passenger of the Camry, a 24-year-old Logan woman, received serious injuries and remains at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition.

Police are appealing for anyone who has CCTV or dashcam vision of the crash or vehicles prior to the crash to contact police.

Forensic Crash Unit officers are investigating the crash and the Ethical Standards Command will overview the investigation.
