Serious traffic crash – Southport

Police are investigating after a 20-year-old man was taken to hospital in a critical condition after the car he was driving struck a tree at Southport earlier this morning, Queensland Police say.

Around 5am, for unknown reasons, the car has left Cotlew Street and collided with a tree.

There were no other passengers in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

The injured driver was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital with life endangering injuries.

The Gold Coast Forensic Crash Unit are investigating the cause of the crash.
