Police are investigating a serious traffic incident which occurred in Cairns this morning, Queensland Police say.
Initial investigations suggest about 10.40am a bicycle rider was crossing the intersection of Mulgrave and Balaclava Roads when he was struck by a vehicle.
The 80-year-old cyclist was transported to Cairns Base Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the car was not injured and is assisting police with their investigations.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
