Police are investigating a serious traffic incident that occurred this morning in Wondunna (Hervey Bay), Queensland Police say.
Initial investigations indicate about 5.30am, a 32-year-old woman was a passenger in a car that was travelling west on Gilston Rd towards the roundabout with Rosedale Street.
The woman exited the vehicle whilst it was still moving resulting in being run over by the vehicle.
The woman suffered serious spinal and head injuries and was transported to the Hervey Bay Hospital in a critical condition.
The 41-year-old male driver of the vehicle is assisting police with their inquiries.
The pair, who are known to each other, are both from the Hervey Bay area.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
