Service station armed robbery; man arrested, NSW

A man has been arrested over an alleged armed robbery in Sydney's west this evening.

Just after 5.20pm (Monday 28 January 2019), police were called to a service station on North Parade, near Carlisle Avenue, Mount Druitt, after reports of an armed robbery.

Police have been told a man entered the service station and threatened the attendant with a knife.

He allegedly stole cash and cigarettes, before leaving on foot.

The attendant was not injured.

Officers from Mt Druitt Police Area Command attended and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, about 6.30pm, a 20-year-old man was arrested in a carpark on North Parade.

He has been taken to Riverstone Police Station where he is assisting with inquiries.

Police believed the incident is also linked to a robbery at a jewellery store in a shopping centre on the corner of Carlisle Avenue and Luxford Road earlier in the day.
