It's Gambling Harm Awareness Week, and a reminder of the importance of setting limits to reduce the risk of gambling harm to yourself and others.
In Manningham, more than $59 million was lost to gambling through electronic gaming machines this past financial year - equating to almost $162,000 a day.
In Victoria, more than $3.1 billion was lost during the same period through electronic gambling machines.
Gambling harm can affect your self-esteem, relationships, physical and mental health, work performance and social life.
Every time before you gamble, set a limit and stick to it.
You can also set gambling limits by:
- spending only 2% of your take home pay on gambling
- gambling no more than once a week
- sticking to 2 different types of products.
Small changes can make a big difference.
We're committed to reducing gambling harm in our community. Since the endorsement of our Manningham Gambling Policy in 2024, gambling losses have decreased by 2%.
