Seven charged as stolen property syndicate investigation continues - Kings Cross PAC

Four people will appear in court today after seven people were charged over their involvement in a syndicate that allegedly stole large amounts of property from supermarkets, and on-sold it.

Investigators attached to the Kings Cross Proactive Crime Team established Strike Force Sunnyside in January 2019, to investigate a syndicate involved in the alleged receiving and redistribution of stolen property.

It's alleged the property was stolen from supermarkets, then sold through a convenience store in Darlinghurst and a storage container at Greenacre.

During the warrants police allegedly seized more than $100,000 worth of property; including pharmaceuticals, vitamins, batteries, personal items, and confectionary.

At the convenience store, a 24-year-old shop attendant was arrested; while a second man, aged 32, was arrested at a home in Bankstown and a third man, aged 38, was arrested at a home in Woolloomooloo.

On Friday 5 April 2019, two further arrests were made. A 27-year-old man was arrested at his Belmore home, and a 52-year-old man was arrested at a supermarket on Darlinghurst Road, Potts Point.

Following further inquiries, a 39-year-old woman was arrested on Crown Street, Surry Hills, on Wednesday 1 May 2019.

All of those arrested were taken to Kings Cross Police Station, where they were charged.

The 27-year-old man was charged with participating in a criminal group, three counts of larceny, three counts of disposing property, three counts of dealing with proceeds of crime, and four counts of entering enclosed lands. He appeared before Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday 6 April 2019, where bail was formally refused. He is due to re-appear before Downing Centre Local Court today (Tuesday 7 May 2019).

Two men – aged 24 and 52 – were charged with participating in a criminal group, receiving stolen property, and dealing with property suspected of being proceeds of crime.

They were all granted conditional bail and are due to appear at Downing Centre Local Court today (Tuesday 7 May 2019).
