Seven people rescued after boat capsizes at Bulli

A person has died after seven people were rescued from a capsized boat off the coast of Wollongong today.

About 10.20am (Sunday 31 October 2021), emergency services were called to waters off Waniora Point, Bulli, after reports of a vessel had capsized.

Officers attached to Wollongong Police Area Command attended and with the assistance of Surf Life Savers and the Marine Area Command, seven people on board at the time were rescued and taken to shore.

Rescuers performed CPR on four people until the arrival of paramedics. One person could not be revived and died at the scene.

The three others are being treated and are expected to be taken to hospital. Their conditions are not yet known.

Emergency services remain on scene, conducting inquiries.
