Shadow Treasurer fails Tasmanian businesses

Peter Gutwein,Treasurer

Labor's ongoing attacks on Tasmania's nation-leading economic performance is typical of a party that doesn't understand business or the economy.

Rather than congratulating businesses for their investment, growth and the pivotal role they have played in transforming Tasmania's economy - Labor's former failed economic development minister recycles old data in a bid to undermine business confidence.

Tasmanian businesses have not forgotten the dark days of the Labor-Green Government when 2 out of 3 businesses said their policies were actively working against them, our economy was rock bottom and 10,000 Tasmanians lost their jobs.

The Hodgman majority Liberal Government remains committed to supporting Tasmania's businesses and delivering our plan to build a stronger economy and create even more jobs.

With an economy growing faster than the economic powerhouses of NSW and Victoria, and nation leading business confidence, we will continue to support our Tasmanian businesses and their workers as they invest and grow unlike Mr O'Byrne who wants only to dent confidence and cost jobs simply for political gain.

With 15,800 jobs created since we came to Government and plan to create 10,000 more, today's Sensis results are true testament that we have the right policies in place to back Tasmanian business.
