Shellharbour City Council is once again inviting the community to spread kindness this Christmas through the Mayoress' Giving Tree initiative.
The Giving Tree is back at the Shellharbour Civic Centre, encouraging residents to donate gifts that will bring joy to local families experiencing hardship during the festive season.

Each year Council partners with St Vincent De Paul to give locals an opportunity to share the holiday spirit by donating gifts that will be distributed to underprivileged families across the city.
Vikki Muller, partner of Shellharbour City Mayor Chris Homer, expressed gratitude for the generosity shown by the community year after year.
"Every gift, no matter how small, can make a big difference. I encourage everyone to take part and help brighten Christmas for those who need it most. Together, we can show what a caring community Shellharbour truly is," she said.
Mayor Homer also encouraged everyone to get involved.
"Each year, the generosity of Shellharbour residents reminds us what a caring and connected community we live in. I encourage everyone who can contribute to the Mayoress' Giving Tree. Together, we can make a real difference," Mayor Homer said.
Donations of new, unwrapped gifts for all ages are welcome. Suggested items include toys, books, clothing, and festive non-perishable goods. To donate, simply head to the Civic Centre (enter either through main foyer or library entrance), and place items in the gift box next to the tree.
The Giving Tree will be accepting donations until Friday, 5 December at the Civic Centre.
