At 11:50am today Police and Tasmania Fire Service were alerted to a fire in a shed at the rear of a property in Bishop Street New Town. The shed was completely engulfed by fire when emergency services arrived on scene, Tasmania Police say.
The fire was quickly contained and did not spread to other buildings on the property or neighbouring residences however, neighbours were evacuated for a short time as a precaution due to concerns of gas bottles being stored in the shed.
The cause of the fire is under investigation however it is not considered to be suspicious.
