Shellharbour Celebrates Community Champions

Shellharbour City Council has celebrated the achievements of local athletes, community organisations, and young leaders at the Community Donations and Sponsorships Ceremony, held at the Shellharbour Civic Centre on Wednesday, 1 April.

The event recognised recipients from Rounds 4 to 7 of Council's Community Donations and Sponsorships Program, which provided $60,805 in funding to support participation in national and international competitions, community events, and grassroots initiatives to help locals represent Shellharbour at national and international competitions, deliver community events, and grow grassroots initiatives.

Funding supported a diverse range of activities, including:

  • i98FM Illawarra Convoy
  • Girls on Fire
  • Shell Con Mania
  • Albion Park Show Society
  • LaserVision - Luna Light Journeys
  • Shellharbour Food and Wine Festival
  • Albion Park Agricultural, Horticultural and Industrial Association Inc. Zone 2 Young Women Final
  • Shellharbour Playtime Playgroup
  • Oak Flats Community Garden
  • Albion Park RSL Sub-Branch
  • Shellharbour City Warriors Baseball Club
  • Athletes competing in a variety of sports including hockey, athletics, bowling, gymnastics, netball, surfing and football.

Council is proud to have given $77,155 to successful recipients this financial year to date.

Shellharbour City Mayor Chris Homer congratulated the recipients and praised their dedication, passion and community spirit.

To ensure the Community Donations and Sponsorship program continues to deliver the best outcomes for the community of Shellharbour, the program is currently on hold while Council undertakes a review of the policy.
