Shoalhaven reminded to keep dogs on leash

Shoalhaven City Council has recently reported on the latest Quarterly Review for compliance matters.

Shoalhaven Mayor Amanda Findley said the data collected from April to June 2019 indicated that the parking infringements and animal-related penalty notices were the two highest areas of concern from Councils compliance team.

Mayor Amanda Findley also noted that "it was fantastic to see no penalties were issued around Pool or Fire Safety compliance, in the lead up to the warmer months."

"Parking is always a high infringement, but I think the most surprising is how many Animal related issues we had in the Shoalhaven," Clr Findley said.

"Together the two issues accounted for 1770 of the penalty notices and among them were eight dog on dog attack incidents.

"While this is not a great number it is a stern reminder to dog owners that unless in an allocated dog off-leash area your dog must be on a restraint while walking. This restriction is not just about your dog but the safety of other dogs too.

"Each owner received a $1320 penalty for the incident and are now expected to provide adequate controls and housing to prevent future incidents."
