Shop attendant injured in armed robbery in Blacktown

A bottle shop employee has been injured during an armed robbery at Blacktown last night, NSW Police say.

Just before 8pm today, the 36-year-old shop attendant was working at the store on Reservoir Road, when two masked men entered.

One of the men, who was armed with a kitchen knife, ordered a customer to lie on the ground.

Another man, armed with a cricket bat, took a bottle of vodka and smashed a number of other bottles.

Officers have been told they demanded cash from the employee and, despite the till being handed over, the attendant was hit in the left arm with the bat before the men fled.

Police from Blacktown Local Area Command attended a short time later and secured a crime scene.

The injured employee was assessed by Ambulance Paramedics and has been taken to Blacktown Hospital for further treatment.

The men have only been described as wearing black clothing, with one possibly of Caucasian appearance and the other possibly Middle Eastern/Mediterranean appearance.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
