Shoplifter arrested in Sydney

A man has been arrested after allegedly been caught shoplifting in Sydney CBD, NSW Police say.

About 5pm today, emergency services were called to King Street, Sydney following reports that a man had allegedly stolen a number of items from a store.

Police from Sydney City Local Area Command were contacted and spoke with a man at the scene.

It will be alleged that the man produced a knife and as a result officers used an electronic control device to subdue him.

A 45-year-old man was arrested.

He is currently assisting police with their inquiries.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
