Shot fired in armed robbery in Narrandera

Police are investigating an armed robbery in which a shot was fired in Narrandera in the state’s Riverina region, NSW Police say.

About 8.40pm today, a man in a balaclava confronted two employees at the entrance to a supermarket on East Street.

The man produced a swan off rifle and demanded entry. On gaining entry to the business, he demanded cash and cigarettes.

He was given an amount of cash and cigarettes before fleeing on foot.

As he left the store the man discharged the firearm, with a projectile going through a glass door. He then ran away in an unknown direction.

Police from Griffith Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene, which was examined by forensic specialists.

The man is described as Caucasian appearance, slim build, with scabs on his forearms. He was wearing a black balaclava, and was carrying a black and blue coloured bag.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
