Shots fired and vehicle pursuit, Sunshine Coast

Two people have been charged following a pursuit along the Bruce Highway yesterday where shots were allegedly fired at police vehicles, Queensland Police say.

It will be alleged just before 4pm police sighted a vehicle travelling along the Bruce Highway at Forest Glen which had been reported by a member of the public after one of the occupants pointed a shot gun at them.

Police attempted to intercept the vehicle however it allegedly accelerated away at high speed.

Police successfully deployed a tyre deflation device near the Maroochydore Road turnoff at Nambour and the damaged vehicle continued to travel at high speed southbound on the Bruce Highway.

It will be further alleged that as the car drove through Sippy Downs a gun was pointed from the passenger window and fired at two police vehicles.

No one was physically injured as a result.

A second tyre deflation device was successfully deployed at Caloundra Road and the vehicle continued to drive several more kilometres before eventually rolling to a stop on the side of the road.
